  • 'O beloved! Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the men of the Elephant?
  • Did He not cause their device to be ruined.
  • And He sent against them flocks of birds.
  • Striking them against stones of baked clay.
  • And thus made them like broken straw eaten up.

  • Elephants are the biggest living land animals. There are two types of elephant, African and Asian. Both types live in herds, and have poor eyesight but very good senses of hearing and smell. If one animal detects danger, the whole herd is alerted. African elephants are of two types. Asian Elephants have rounded backs and a slight hump in the middle with shorter and stockier legs, and African Elephants have a dip in the middle with longer legs. Asian Elephants are said to be the stronger ones, as in Asia, people used them to carry their loads or for travelling from one place to another. Despite being larger in size, African Elephants are not as powerful as Asians are. An Average height of Asian Elephant at the shoulder is 6.6 to 9.8 feet and their weight is about 2,041 to 4,990 kilograms.

    African Elephants

African Elephants have big ears like the shape of African continent, on the other hand Asian Elephants have smaller ears. Elephant is a strongest and huge animal that is why they eat a lot. An average height of African Elephant at the shoulder is 8.2 to 13 feet and their weight is about 2,268 to 6,350 kilograms.
The Elephants use their trunk for smelling, breathing, for grabbing things and making loud sounds. They can graze on grass and grasp leaves and fruits from the trees. They can even role their trunk on a tree and shake it to get the fruit easily. African Elephants have two fingers like features on the tip, while Asian elephants have one. Tusk which are also known as ivory are present in both male and female African elephants. Whereas, males of Asian Elephants have tusks but in females they are very small or absent.
